In line with the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda of the Lagos State Government on youth empowerment and vocational education, the management of Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) held a strategic meeting with Lekki Worldwide Investment Limited (LWWIL) team at their premises on Friday 3rd of July 2026, to advance plans for a state-of-the-art Technical Training Centre.

The proposed centre aims to directly address the massive skilled manpower demands of over 200 industrial firms within the Lekki Free Trade Zone corridor, including the Dangote Refinery, Alaro City, and the Lekki Deep Seaport.

Key Highlights of the Strategic Engagement:

Industry-Driven Curriculum: A comprehensive training needs assessment is currently underway across firms in the zone to ensure the centre’s curriculum matches actual industry demands rather than generic training.

Parallel Facility Planning: Potential facility spaces have been identified for an immediate project take-off, with site decisions being carefully aligned with the emerging needs assessment findings.

National TVET Alignment: The initiative strongly aligns with the Federal Government’s current emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and youth empowerment.

Next Steps: Following management feedback from the LWWIL team, a joint implementation timeline will be drawn up to commence the historic partnership.
