On Thursday, 11th June 2026, the Management and Staff of Lagos State Cooperative College paid a courtesy visit to the College’s first Provost, Mr. Akorede Ojomu, to congratulate and felicitate with him on his appointment as the Administrative Controller, Lekki Free Trade Zone Development Company (LFTZDC).
The delegation was warmly received by Mr. Ojomu, who expressed his appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed his enduring commitment to the growth and development of the College.
Following the reception, the delegation was introduced to Mr. Toheeb Giwanson, a Marketing Manager at the Lekki Free Trade Zone, who delivered an insightful presentation on the history, vision, and strategic importance of the Zone. He explained how the Lekki Free Trade Zone was established as a special economic zone to attract local and foreign investments, stimulate industrial growth, create employment opportunities, and serve as a major hub for manufacturing, trade, logistics, and export activities in Nigeria and West Africa. The Zone is home to several world-class investments and key infrastructure, including industries, manufacturing plants, logistics facilities, and the Lekki Deep Sea Port, one of the most significant economic development projects in the country.
The College team was subsequently taken on an extensive tour of various companies and facilities within the Zone, providing first-hand exposure to the scale of industrial activities and investment opportunities available within the rapidly developing economic corridor.
The visit culminated in a sumptuous buffet hosted by Mr. Akorede Ojomu in honour of the delegation. The outing proved to be highly informative, educational, and enlightening, offering participants valuable insights into the operations of one of Nigeria’s foremost economic and industrial hubs.
Indeed, it was an eye-opening experience and a memorable engagement for all members of the delegation.
