Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos State Cooperative College has commenced a three-day strategic retreat aimed at shaping its development roadmap for 2025-2029. The event, themed “Reimagine Cooperative Education For A Sustainable Future in Lagos State,” brings together key stakeholders to redefine cooperative education and enhance its impact on socio-economic growth.
The Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperative, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, graced the opening ceremony, emphasizing the vital role of cooperative societies as drivers of socio-economic transformation. She commended the College for its strides in capacity-building while urging further support for cooperatives in the agricultural value chain.
“Cooperative societies remain critical agents for sustainable development,” stated Mrs. Ambrose-Medebem. “The Lagos State Cooperative College must continue to innovate and empower these groups, particularly in agriculture, to ensure inclusive growth.”
The retreat will feature strategic sessions on policy formulation, curriculum enhancement, and partnerships to strengthen cooperative education in line with Lagos State’s sustainability goals. Participants include cooperative leaders, educators, and government officials.
